Elementary Choir
4th-6th grade Student & Parent information
Dear Parents:
I am thrilled that your son/daughter has chosen to participate in the Chorus at CMCS this year! I am looking forward to working with all of you. Chorus will be a fun, enriching, and rewarding experience for all as long as we strive for the same goal of using our gifts & talents to glorify God. In doing so, we also strive for musical excellence. I am providing this agreement in order to clarify all of the expectations associated with being a Chorus member at the elementary campus.
- Rehearsal/Class Procedures
1. Be prompt every Tues. & Thurs. at 7:30am ready to sing.
2. Eat a good breakfast before you come to choir, get plenty of sleep.
3. Be prepared with a pencil, highlighter, and your black music folder.
- Rules for a productive rehearsal environment
1. Come to class on time and prepared (see above)...7:30 SHARP! Attendance will be taken.
2. No gum, food, or drink other than water. Water is encouraged.
3. Treat others (students, teacher, & accompanist) with respect at all times.
4. Pay attention (NO TALKING), even when your section is not singing.
5. Participate! Give it your all!
6. Raise your hand if you have a question.
7. Do not interrupt the teacher or fellow students.
8. If you are tardy or have to leave the room for any reason, distract as little as possible.
9. Follow all school rules as you would in your home classroom.
- Attendance
EVERY Tuesday & Thursday 7:30-7:58am
1. Attendance is mandatory. We only rehearse 2x per week for ½ hour each. We have 4-5 songs to learn for our Christmas Concert. If you miss choir often, or are constantly tardy, you will not be able to participate in the scheduled concert. Everyone must know their music in order to participate in performances.
2. In addition to the regular scheduled classes, I may need to schedule an extra rehearsal or two prior to concerts. I will let you know those dates if and when we need them. Whenever possible, extra practices will be held during school hours.

2. All chorus students must bring a pencil & highlighter to class.
- Notices/Signatures
1. A few times a year, students will be given notices that will require signatures. These are to ensure that parents/care providers are aware of upcoming performances, “dress” rehearsals, concert attire, trip information, etc.
2. These notices will also be posted on the website under “elementary choir” and must be printed, signed and returned to me.
- Fundraising
Thanks to fundraising efforts last year, Calvary was able to purchase royal blue ties & cumberbunds for all choir members. Your student will be issued their own set for the semester. It is the student/parent responsibility to make sure the choir member wears it to concerts. Should you lose the set, there will be a $10.00 replacement fee.
If you have ideas on fundraising for this year, please let me know. I am open to bake sales, ice cream sales, etc. please email me.
